Hi all,

I'm going wild boar hunting in Sweden next weekend and have made some ammunition for the trip.

I was wondering if someone could give me an approx idea to velocity as I don't have access to a chrono?

6.5x55
Lapua Mega 155 grain
VV N160 44 grains
Lapua case
CCI 200 LR primer
OAL 76mm
Barrel 60cm
Temperature expected to be around 0-5 degrees celcius

Thanks
Jonathan

p.s. This will not be a driven hunt, so please spare me the messages that 6.5x55 is not a good enough caliber!

Hi Jonathon
The approx fps is about 2500 .I generally use 6.5x55 usually with a 120gr.The 6.5 x55 will dispatch boar just a quick as any other calibre aslon as you have the right head it is all about bullett placement. I understand that the 160 gr has been sucessfully used on polar bears in the past.
Cheers Derek

Hi Derek,

Thank you for taking the time to work it out for me :D

2500 fps / 760 mps sounds good to me.

Thanks
Jonathan
