    6.5x47 vit N140 129 inters loads ?

    Hi all,
Thinking of having a change from 150 to 140 as sure I'm shooting a flame thrower with my 18in barrel,
Been on vit site and looked in my loading manuals but can't find a 140 load for 130 grain so anyone have anything there that works that I can work towards please?
    Regards
    Jimmy

I have used N140 with 120 to 130g bullets. My rifle does show pressure faster than some. I currently use 36g n140 with 123g scenars and 37g with 120g Nosler BT. I have used a small handful of 129g hornady interlocks with varget at 35g and generally find N140 to substitute grain for grain with varget. Obviously safe in my rifle but not necessarily yours etc

That is a seriously hot load depending on how the rifle has been throated. At 2.800 COAL with the bullet still off the lands, it's max CIP pressures. If your rifle is throated to give such bullets COALs around 2.650" as many are when the bullet is just 'out', it'll produce ~80,000 psi pressure. I use that charge weight with the 123gn Scenar for a very hot load in a shorter throat rifle - but with N150

The '47L is very heavily affected by relatively small changes in throat lengths and hence how deeply bullets have to be seated in the case. My advice to people is to VERY careful of others' loads in this cartridge unless they are provided with and understand all relevant factors. Viht's max loads for the 123 Scenar and 125gn Nosler Partition are 36.4 and 36.3gn N140, and that's at a relatively long 2.736" COAL for the Scenar.

I would think you will be fine starting at 33 grains as a starting load. My loads for the 47 are a good grain less than some of my friends loads and are fairly moderate.

Viht manual version 13 (2014) which is a download on their website has N140 loads for:

125 grain Nosler Partition 2.559 COAL 36.3 grains 2690 fps.
    136 grain Lapua Scenar-L 2.736 COAL 35.5 grains 2598 fps.

So split the difference and about 36 grains looks like as if it would a max. load. for 130 grain bullet.

They have N140 loads for a wide range of bullets from 100 to 140 grains, study the numbers and the trend looks pretty clear.

39 grains 2935 fps does sound HOT

The rifle build and load load ladder supplied by gunsmith to get the best result out of the bullet the rifle dos't like them tight into the lans, but loves them set way back and a jump, i have no over pressure signs a very very small amount of primer flow no more than the .308 at 2700 , cases are fine with min movement for resizing, col with comp hornady gage is 2.139 . i have try'd soft loads with R15 and 123 amax and the moa is not as good ,but i do take on board what the other 6.5x47 are doing and will try some of the loads i have been given to work on , i love this reloading lark it burns more powder than time glad n140 is around lol. but is nice to play and pull the trigger to the lads that have sent the info, its like BR i'll get there in the end and find a sweet load be it 120,130,123,139,140 grains ye gods thats some range time away from her indoors 120 loads today with n140.
