Say what you like lads, Wee Eck wasn't that popular, but the Yes campaign still got 45% of the vote, what is more amazing is that since the referendum SNP membership has increased by 24,000

Yes and without him yes may have won. Well providing they could have answered all of the important yet uncomfortable questions, without accusing folk of scaremongering as a diversion away from the question

Shabz now there's a word I haven't seen used for a long time, "Sycophant" but aint sure which way you mean it to be used as it has two meanings "Flatterer" or "Toady"

Jimbo

It was meant as a comment on the puppy dog eyes that she had for Salmond every time that he spoke. It won't be good for scotland if she is the one negotiating our powers.

What's the name of that island where Nepoleon was banished to? Salmond should be deported there for what he has done to the UK. He could be taken by nuclear sub from faslane. A sub where English, Scottish, Welsh and Nothern Irish lads all work together as a successful team, just like the UK.

Saint Helena, where there is some very good fishing, so don't send him there!

You could however send him another 4000 miles south, to the Falkland Islands, then ask for his thoughts on independence ;)

Lets just hope Westminister doesn't give him the power to create a Scottish Firearms Act as part of the bribe to keep us in the Union!

I wouldn't bet against it. Westminster politicians will consider any bribe if it enables them to keep their seats in a rocking boat. As a proportion of the overall population, firearms owners, particularly Scottish firearms owners, are of no consequence. Scottish shooters, including nationalists should keep a very close eye on proceedings. The SNP would love to stop you shooting and Westminster couldn't care less about you now that they know they've lost your vote. Either or both will readily sell you out if it suits their purposes.
On the subject of Cameron/Salmond, although he a hypocrite Salmond is also right. Cameron has insulted the monarch made a fool of himself.

With Salmond hanging around he is still further damaging Scotland. He opened an unnecessary question that had been settled many years ago. The Scottish Government has lots of levers to pull already to sort its economy has had so for 15 years. There are more already agreed on the statute book including tax raising powers.

Yes 45% voted for YES, but thats 45% of 85% who turned out, so in fact it's only 38.25% of the electorate supported him. Bear in mind the electorate was increased by the addition of 16 year olds.

The areas that the SNP won had a low turnout. Glasgow, by far the largest council only had a 75% turnout with 53% voting yes. That's only 40% of the electorate saying YES

We we need to get back to building this country, but over the last few years of the SNP the focus has just been on independence. People have already voted with their feet. Why are the vast majority of professionals and skilled trades spending most of their time heading off down south each week?

Rather than a leadership election Salmond should do the right thing and call an election of the Scottish Government. He, Nicola, nor the SNP government have any mandate to continue. The Scottish electorate have spoken.

Yes indeed and of course by the same token 55% of 85% is only 46.75%. i.e. Less than half of those Scots who could have voted actually voted to retain the union. This is 1979 and 1997 all over again. Once all the things that were predicted to go wrong at the hands of self governance have actually gone wrong under Westminster the vote will be for Independence. And what a flying start to that. Cameron is already cutting the Scots budget and the NHS is falling apart down South, presumably to be followed quite soon by the same fate in Scotland, thanks to the budget reductions promised since last Thursday. Going to war yet again at America's bidding won't help either.

One and all this is a stalking site, the referendum is over the rut is about to start, lets concentrate on that. I am closing this nonsense.
