I knew I forgot something! It's 45-120. A phot of the cartridge next to a .22lr is my avatar

it came from an age when men were men and cartridges were as long as a pencil.
“Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”........Dalai Lama

She's a Uberti I'm afraid so the history is lacking.
It's a faithful repro mind, most original bits work in it. The original design for the rifle was to mainly shoot buffalo but the 45-120 cartridge was never used for this purpose in any great numbers.

It's basically a long 45-70, it's takes 120 grains of black powder as opposed to 70.
In smokeless loadings it'll push a 350gr JSP at 2000 fps easily within saami pressure limits...the 32" barrel helps!
This'll be my deer round so just a 45-70 but at lower pressure.

The uberti actions have been destruction tested up to approx 60,000psi. At a max of 40ksi it'll hurl a 500 grain solid at 2150 or so out of a shorter barrel, this matching the 450 NE.

For the meantime I'm sticking to sound manufactures data and will be happy knocking deer down (literally) with her.

And yes I expect it'll recoil a little
