    Running in a Sako 85 6.5X55

    Hi Everyone,

I have on order a 6.5 X55 Sako 85 its due in January just wanting to compile some information before I take delivery. Basically has anyone used the factory Sako ammunition in a 6.5 X 55 any pros or cons? Secondly I think I have settled on shooting 140 Grain bullets I have Roe stalking here in East Yorkshire but have access to Fallow and Muntjac also, so want an all round bullet. Sorry if this sort of thing has been posted before but any help would be brilliant I look forward to gaining some information from your own experience.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hi Chris

    Nice choice of kit :-)

I've not used factory Sako ammo, but have used factory Fusion 140gr SPs and they are superb.

I now have HPS-TR reload that brass with Hornady 140gr SSTs which I (and the rifle) prefer as they are a bit quicker and a bit more accurate with all the penetration and knock down that I need - Fallow, Roe & Munties as well... They are available factory as "Superformance" but you're looking at >£40 per box/20, so not cheap

    Cheers

Farti. Could you please state product/model number for the Hornady SST's.

SAKO barrels will gain nothing by 'running in'. If you do run it in (God help you), reload. You'll never regret it.~Muir

Must say this page is group is full of brilliant "real world" knowledge and I thank you all so very much. Will get some 156g Sako bullets and try the Hornady SST 140g chaps. As for running in Muir I take it I want to shoot slow 5 shot groups? Clean at 20 rounds?
