.223 Remington 700 Varmint Laminted Stock

As title, excellent condition, Timmney trigger, Leupold VXII 3 - 9 x 40 with Long Range Duplex reticule in Burris Signature mounts.

This rifle has had very little use, it has only ever been on ranges.

It was originally bought as a bench rest rifle for my wife but she is finding it a bit big and heavy. It is very accurate but not getting much use so 750 + RFD transfer if required. Please note that this rifle is NOT threaded.

In response to PM enquiries I will split the outfit, rifle only 600 FTF, transfer to RFD at cost.

Very interested in this- How heavy is it approx?
Also, forgive me for being stupid but with the mag, can you only load it through the top one by one rather than a box mag- if so can it be modified so a box mag can be fitted fairly easily and fairly low cost?

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    Hi Mitch,

The rifle weighs 9.375lb, according to the Remington website.

    http://www.remington.com/products/fi...l-700-vls.aspx

The magazine is the hinged floorplate type, loaded through the top one round at a time. There is a small catch that when pressed releases the floorplate to unload. This design has the great advantage that you can't lose your magazine. I had a Ruger .243 stalking for many years with a hinged floorplate, for a stalking rifle it's a very practical design.

They can be converted to detachable magazines, Valkyrie Rifles http://www.valkyrierifles.net/floorplates.htm and South Yorkshire Shooting supplies http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/alchemy-products.html both offer a conversion kit, I think it's actually the same one, 175 plus fitting and magazines.

    Cheers

    Martin
