Haven't had a problem with mine, they have been treated with sport wax from day one!

Yes. Both the sport wax and the spray are compatible with Goretex according to Meindl...as are the Nikwax versions.

Interesting properties with fabric/leather and wax, I do not really understand how it works but I always wear an old Barbour Border jacket for beating and wet weather stalking and that manages to both keep me dry and not suffer from condensation. Barbour's blurb used to refer to them as breathable also, though I haven't read any recently...

You are quite right...they are waterproof because of the goretex, which will stop working if the boots get slathered with dubbin grease and other such *****. All they need is a sparse application of Meindl's own stuff to keep the leather in good nick, and not dried in front of the fire!

Ooops sorry ...meant to say sh*te

mine started leaking quickly, then I started treating them like real leather boots, with good leather conditioners and wax, etc. waterproof now
