A cheap, three for 1.00 type, plastic toothbrush. Used DRY to get off powder and bullet grease residue in combination with a piece of dry rag. Then, and only then, will I go near the gun with any oil or lubricants. And like most .22LR users in these modern times of non-corrosive ammunition NEVER clean or rod the bore of the barrel.

I'm even tighter than that. I wouldn't buy new toothbrushes even at 3 for 1, I use old toothbrushes to clean guns.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

sod that i use hers !!!

but i used cheap carburetor spray cleaner just as good as the carb gun cleaner but a lot cheaper used in the motor trade it eats the gunk that builds up and washes the wax & dirt away .

I have done the same as you guys, toothbrush cleaning with gun cleaner, then degrease, then only a very light lube on the sliding parts. Must admit I hate dirty semi auto cleaning but I rarely have a fail to feed or fail to eject if the rifle is kept almost lube free but not quite.
