Can't see how. The magazine sits directly above the trigger group. You can hold the top round down, half close the bolt and drop an extra round into the chamber. That's about it.

I also had a good look at my R93 and cant see either how extra rounds could be added, but it was worth asking the question, as there are some clever guys on here.
The reason i ask was that i had 8 boar come close buy me and deeply felt that 4 rounds were insuficied !!!
It feels like a rifle desinged for boar shooting, but with only 4 rounds it felt a little lacking !

If all else fails consider trading your r93 in for the r8. If you felt the need you could get an additional magazine/trigger unit. If you start with 2 fully loaded magazines plus 1 chambered that gives 9 rounds..... you could even afford to miss with 1 shot!

What happens when 10 boar come through? Are you then going to get another mag? Its like pheasant shooting, how many times have you had the opportunity to shoot more than 2? Doesn't mean you'd consider turning up with a 10 shot semi? I can understand that boar pose more of a threat than pheasants, and assume thats why you wanted a larger mag capacity?

I don't care who you are (barring maybe Prince Franz-Albert), I doubt any of us could get off more than two or three decent shots at a sounder of boar crossing a ride or running through trees. I have managed to take down two animals from a group precisely once, and those were two Roe who practically ran into me, ranges were very short, feet, not yards.

I think the idea of using seven or eight rounds from a bolt gun is silly, but if you think you are up to it, and have a need of it, Sauer do a specialist driven boar version of the 202 with a big magazine.

Built my own driven game rifle. 308, for some reason 11 fit in the mag and one up the pipe make it 12... if needed, I can tape another mag to it:stir:

That is pretty much exactly what I'm going to get Riflecraft to build me in 338federal !

I had the same problem on my first trip to NZ when hunting wild Boar, I had a 3 shot Tikka and found myself down to one round in the chamber on a couple of occasions, for my second trip I built myself a Howa with a floor plate to take a 10 shot Mag’ from a Remm’y. On my second trip I never really need the big mag’ on boar but it was useful when we ran into a big mob of wild goats, of course they do things a bit differently out there to Europe. ;)

And how many of those 8 boar did you shoot with your 4 rounds? I can load 5 rounds in my Mauser M03 and have never felt i needed more ammo in my rifle. Young Franz makes sure he kills the boar before takeing the next one he does not blast wildly at them.

Some people want to shoot as much as possible. Others only want to take that one, perfect, shot. Most of us occupy positions in between, and adjust them according to our circumstances, to the challenges we set ourselves, and the etiquette of the day.

All things being equal, if you don't want to be caught out with your rifle empty, then a detachable magazine -high-capacity or not- and a couple of spares is as practical a solution as any.

I don't think there's any virtue in not shooting just because you haven't been able to put rounds in the rifle in time.

On the other hand, where there is a written or unwritten rule regarding capacity, then that limitation becomes an integral part of the sport.

That would be the better cartridge for that type of rifle.
Pity anything above .30 cal is problematic in Ireland.
