    Winter fawn

    The little ones were out and about just after 12.30 today, the dog had a solid point on this one which stood just long enough for a crawl up photo.

    Not the best photo in the world but it made my shortest day as I very rarely get to photograph them.

    The next one we came across, a small thin buck, saw the dog snap on point and took off with all four hooves off the ground !

    You will always see more with a dog by your side, and if you cannot find anything with a German pointer - there's nothing there ...

    Thanks, chaps, that was taken with a sub-compact digital camera, smaller than a cellphone, that has that touch screen focus function which works a bit like image stabilisation. But it's still not easy if you are lying under a hedge.

    The fawns look really different in a warm late Spring or Summer with their little stick legs !
