    DIY snap caps

I was think that snap caps for rifle are often hard to find and expensive
Would a simple Delrin or ideally slightly softer plastic "pill" in the same size as a primer not work perfectly to press into a used case and make a simple DIY snap cap?

cant be too hard to produce something in those dimensions

all the reloaders out there have a custom fitting tool too!

Ed - what I have done is to drill some holes across a case, resize the case having first wound back the depriming pin and then seat a bullet. These are now like the drill rounds you used to get with the 303 as a cadet. The holes are there to show its a dummy.

How about hot glue in place of the primer, I use it for making 12 bore dummies for PSG loading training (sold a couple of thousand via a couple of other forums and my website and it seems fit for purpose)

Ive used an empty case "primed" with rubber cut to fill the pocket and squished in for years.

    Works a treat.

I've always been of the thinking that's it's ok to dry fire a rifle, so negating the need for snap caps?

    Isn't that the case?

The only good thing about a set trigger of the double variety on a bolt action rifle is that one may practice trigger let off for a lifetime and have zero impact (word chosen carefully) on firing pin/inner bolt face.
