    Howa 1500 with B&C stock

    Hi all
just picked up a new Howa 1500 in .223. Went for the black Bell & Carlson stock.
    Quick question/thought for you all........
There is no red coloured dot on the stock which indicates 'safety off'.
Is this normal on this stock?
    It does slightly concern me......

I have a B&C medalist on my Tikka and there is no such dot.

why? safety is on when it is as far back towards you as it will go, it is off when it is as far away from you as it will go, check the safety by pulling back on it with your thumb, if you need to check and its too dark to see the red dot are you going to use a light ?

(for the sake of clarity, I am assuming the rifle is being held in a normal "butt in the shoulder" stance whilst checking safe)

If I had to look for a red dot on the stock to tell me the safety was on I would be very worried.

Good question and worth asking, the safety on my CZ is actuated by pushing it forward not the common backward so without the red dot it wouldn't be obvious to someone unfamiliar with the rifle.

There's no red dot on the one on my Howa, just remember "forward to fire", if you cant push it any further forward the safety is off.

Easily fixed for you with a dot of red paint?

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I structured the OP clumsily. I have been using firearms for >35 years, so know abit about when the safety is activated and when it's not. It was more a question of whether the B and C stocks (medallist) have the red dot similar to other manufacturers, that's all
