    Browning .243 fixed magazine

A simple question and I'm probably being a bit dumb, but how do I remove the fixed 4 round magazine from my Browning A Bolt as I would prefer a removable magazine, purely for safety reasons.

Hi Dom, if it's an abolt or similar it just pulls off of the floor plate, open the floor plate grab the mag at the rear and pull, I've had a few abolts and a eurobolt and they all had this detachable mag floor plate system and have to say I think it's one of the best.
    Cheers Jase.

Yep, they just clip in . The clip on the Abolt is at the front of the floorplate though

Yes spring clip at the front of the magazine and a small locating tag at the rear of the magazine so swing the front of the magazine away from the floorplate first.
Of course you could always look it up in the user manual. http://media.browning.com/pdf/om/abolt2manual.pdf
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.
