    Ideal Hebridean holiday accommodation

Dollag's Cottage is a newly refurbished croft house set in the rural village of South Shawbost on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. It can sleep 6 in a double and two twin rooms. The cottage is ideally situated for both a family holiday and also for a sporting holiday and provides quality accommodation and a very reasonable price.

You can visit the cottage web site here:

The cottage is very busy this coming season with the week starting 25th April now the first free week and there are very few left between April and September so if you want a great Hebridean holiday you better act fast. To save you time the calendar for the coming year currently looks like this, the orange coloured dates are already booked:

Already there are guests looking at making reservations for 2016!

There is excellent shooting, stalking and fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout in the area plus lots of beaches, coastal walks and other outdoor activities. There are also a range of places to eat out and Stornoway has a lively town centre and night life so even for the non-sporting guest the cottage can make a good holiday destination outside of the main summer holiday period. As ever because the cottage is on a working croft no dogs or other pets are allowed.

As ever here are a few photos of the area to help get you interested:

There is lots of shooting and stalking - wildfowl, grouse, snipe and most famously woodcock. There are only red deer on the island so clearly the stalking is only for reds but it can be spectacular and most exciting. A party who were up shooting woodcock over New Year recently departed and they had a ball and, despite difficult weather (wind mostly), did very well. I think they also enjoyed the New Year Ceilidh and visiting in various houses around the village and by the time they left they seemed to know everyone.
