    My Kit For Woodland Stalking

    Hullo All,

Pretty bored on the old day off so I thought I'de do a wee post about the kit I use when I'm stalking low ground. Most of the kit is kept in a Snugpak Response BumBag, I started using this when I moved onto a Swanndri Smock, due to the lack of pockets. I know use is as a sort of stalking grab bag, ready to bug out whenever I get a chance. As far as optics go I use Hawke Frontiers 8x42's, Not the best optics in the world, but they were free and the best I could afford at the time, I think I'll be getting some Ziess soon.

Do you use a tick list for that lot?

    Boresnake?

At the October 2009 'Best Practice Event' at Strathconnon, Callum Ferguson said Boresnakes were good for business. He keeps having to put new barrels onto rifles that have the boresnake stuck in them.

Good list! Comparing with mine you've got quite a few things I don't.... the only things I have that you don't is a tick remover, and a bore snake.

    all the best,

    Alex

Vizslamad - most of it is kept in the bags most of time
Scarlet - Lawrence Dungan, like i said

I actually keep a tick hook in the bag - just missed it off, I'll edit it now

Tbh I could do without most of it, and do occasionally. Though I've gathered the stuff over the years and whittled it down from a roe sack, and swaped bits and bobs as I go along. It also sounds a great deal, but it does all go in the bumbag/cheekbag combo, honest . It also not that heavy, maybe a pound, and the bag holds itself up quite well.

So how does that compaire to other people?

Good list, i stalk fairly near to my vehicle so a lot of kit resides in a bag in the Jimny. I too have some of the aniseed spray, which is solid at normal temeratures. How do you use it?

Because when i use it it has to come out of the Kitchen, warmed by hot water or off the radiator, and then be kept next to my skin (underarm or groin) to keep it liquid.

I like the sheath, I was given a Mora 2000 knife for Christmas, I am most impressed with it.

I too carry a boresnake, but since i started taping over the end of the moderator before stalking I am much more confident that I will not have to use it.

Blimey what a list. When i woodland stalked in England i took the rifle ,5 rounds ammo, bino's, knife and stalking stick. Most important was the Kelly kettle, frying pan so doghound and i could make a brew and a fry up.
