    Krico advice needed

Looks like I have just sold a rifle and have a chance at one of these
    Attachment 52518

Same rifle, apel swing off mounts and an older 6x42 Swarovski Nova in .222
    Price £480
    or
A CZ550 in .243 with mounts and scope but not much of a scope
    Price £325

    Neither is screw threaded

I feel the need for a .22 centrefire really and so wanted a .220 swift, but only a limited budget.

    Your thoughts?

I have owned a Krico 700 deluxe in 9.3x64 for over 25 years.
Never had a thing go wrong with it, extremely accurate.
They are very underrated rifles in my opinion.
Fit, finish and barrel quality in brilliant.
One in 222 would be superb.

Just been reading that if the throat is okay then it could be rechambered to .220 swift. Happy days

    That's a very, very nice-looking rifle

    Nothing wrong with a 222.
I have used one for many years with two 12gauge barrels above a 222, in a Merkel drilling.
It has been very effective on fox, wild dogs, and small pigs.
    Incredibly accurate round.

as far as ime aware 222 bolt face will re barrel to 221 fireball and 20 VarTarg
but your right the 243 bolt face will be good for the 220 swift
if mines not a shooter its 20 vartarg for me , from the reading i have done early Krico rifle barrels were made by Lothar Walther
and you dont here of many folk shooting out a 222 barrel , as for the cz rifles i am a fan but krico is in another league for build quality
parts can be found for them ,bolt shrouds and mags but cz parts are more readily available and ive never come across a bad cz barrel from new that is
good luck ,hope you go for the Krico

220 is semi rimmed so you might have feed problems. Also it might be a bit more of a barrel burner than you really need. The old 222 won a lot of long range competitions in its day so you should be alright with it.
