Rem .308 165g Accutip

That sounds a lot. I used to use Remmington Accutips in my estate rifle and they were about £17 a box.

To be fair, this was in .243, it was a couple of years ago and I was buying 400-600 rnds at a time but compared to other similar brands they were considerably cheaper.

I was very happy with them and occasionally used the 130grn version in my own .270.

Today, locally, been quoted £48.50 for a box of 20!!?? Whats going on?
Kev.

They've made a mistake with the price surely Kev? That's the sort of ridiculous price you sometimes hear quoted for the likes of RWS not Remington.

Inquired with another RFD, the story is that Remington has changed UK importers and that from now on, £48 is near the mark ! WTF??
Kev.

Yes the importer/distributor changed from Edgar Brothers to Sports Marketing some time ago. http://www.sportsmk.co.uk/
I understand, but I may be mistaken, that the Sports Marketing company were bought out or acquired by Remington so in effect Remington are now distributing their own products in the U.K. That however is no reason for a massive hike in the price of their ammo, if anything taking out the middleman should make their prices more cost reasonable.
Perhaps they are getting delusions of grandeur and believe that their products now compare with the better products of Norma or RWS, or perhaps as I originally thought that there is a mistake in the price quoted.

Just as a price comparison just look at what Macleod of Tain charge. http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/ammunition/.308.html
