Me and a Mate considering booking this Oct for sika stag rut with either David Moore at Celtic Field Sports http://www.broomfieldlodge.com/ in Co. Wicklow
or James Duggan at http://www.irishdeerservices.ie/ in Co.Kerry

We would appreciate any feedback from SD stalkers who have used either outfitter?
eg; How well were you treated? ....level of professionalism of guides? ....standard of accomodation? ....number of deer seen? ....quality of trophies shot? ....terrain hunted?.....value for money? etc, etc

PM me if you don't want to go public.

Any and all feedbback much appreciated

thanks

I live in Wicklow and the only operator I have ever met was John Fenton. He took me stalking a couple of times before I had graduated from an air rifle. I believe he comes highly recommended commercially. I haven't met him in a long number of years and he doesn't appear to advertise. Maybe some members here have contact details for him as I've seen his name mentioned here a few times. You couldn't deal with a more knowledgeable or nicer guy if you are lucky enough to get in touch with him.

I find the picture on the Broomfield site of the young chap holding up two very stale salmon a little offputting. That would flavour my opinion anyway.

I have been Sika hind stalking with John Fenton for the last five or six years. Great fellow, plenty of deer, lots of ground but be prepared to do exactly as your told and if you can't take a bollocking then don't go! John has a short fuse and does not suffer fools! I will be back again for the hinds (and another bollocking!) this year.

Agree with Phil. Have been the last two years to Glenmalure to stalk with Mr Sika Fenton and intend to go again this Nov. He speaks his mind, praise when you've done well and reprimanded when you've messed it up, yet Ive learnt more from the last two trips to Wicklow than on several trips eleswhere. One thing though, you'll see plenty of deer if you do go. Also Glenmalure Lodge is perfect retreat to lick ones wounds in the evening!

In Kerry we had quite a few problems with outfitters that just drop off stalkers in places where they don't even have permission.
Maybe just send a mail to http://www.wilddeerireland.com/ they might or might not advise someone, eitherway a good site/ contact.
