Hatsan Escort Chokes?

I have the chance of a Hatsan Escort Semi Auto with 3.5 inch chambers which I am interested in as it is "at the right money" and I tend to shoot slightly better with a Semi Auto - I know that Hatsans are quite disliked by some but I can borrow this gun to try it out whenever I want to make sure that it recycles properly and fit me, etc.
The gun only comes with one choke so I would be interested in getting a set of choke tubes to go with it if I decide to buy the gun. However I am finding a little difficulty in finding any prices on the internet for Hatsan Chokes so does anyone know who stocks Hatsan Chokes and roughly what sort of price they are please?

Mods - If this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it!

Don't want to put a dampner on your potential purchase FB but make sure you check the gun over very carefully. I'm sure many people are perfectly happy with these guns, but my father had a problem with one he purchased from new. Half way through a 50 bird clay shoot what we thaught were sparks could be seen coming out of the muzzle, on checking the choke had disintegrated and the end of the barrel was bulged!
Probably a one-off, but forewarned etc.

Early ones suffered with quality control especially the maching of the the barrel threads for the chokes. I had 2 the blow the chokes out the end.

Some people use beretta type Mobil chokes but they are very slightly different I wouldn't risk it, the Hatsan chokes are also a lot cheap (half the price trade) of the beretta chokes.

The long chambered ones (Magnums) are problematic as you can only use cartridges of 70mm or over in them. If you use shorter they will try to load both cartridges in the mag and jam!
They also need to be kept very clean with a heat resistant oil.
Great value guns, but there are better ones which are less fussy.

Not always !
I bought one with 'posh' Turkish walnut wood and not only does it look good it works with all manner of cartridges.
I mentioned it on here some time ago about when I was pigeon shooting in the morning and couldn't load up quick enough so lunch time, after several phone calls, located one and bought it.
I use it with the 26" barrells for walk arounds and pigeon shooting and have used up most of my odds and sods of variouse makes, weights, wads and lengths of cartridges and not had any faults at all.

It's probably not the 3.5" magnum then!

I understand what some members are saying about problems with some Hatsans and I appreciate it. This is why I am going to be allowed to try the gun for a couple of days first so that I can put it through it's paces with different cartridges and make sure that I am "comfortable" with it. At the same time I will be able to take the choke that is currently in the gun out to check that also!
I can also confirm that it is definitely the 3.5 inch magnum!

The one I have is the 3.5" Magnum proofed for steel, two barrels, 26" & 29" with a selection of chokes and spare Butt spacers all presented in a nice green Plastic/ABS case.

Thinking about it this morning on a clearer head, the problem only occurs if you load 3 in! The first one fires ok but then tries to load the next 2!

Monkey Spankers right I have a 3 1/2" Mag will shoot any 28gram upwards but must be 2 & 3/4" cartridges also keep a check on the choke if shooting a lot they tend to come loose and if not checked regular will let the gas pass behind them as said above had mine for two years (probably shouldn't say this but not had a problem yet

Happy hunting

I've actually been considering buying one of these for a while (the Extreme Max which is the synthetic stocked 3 1/2" version).

Mine is the 3.5" magnum and as EMcC says no problems i would even go further and say that the Escourt is better than my 3.5" Beretta Extrema 2 and a 1/4 of the money. I also have an FAC Escourt that has been used for roost shooting every weekend from November to end March for the last 8 years had 1'000's rounds through it no problem. The FAC one is 8 shot.

Thanks for all the replies, help and advice guys!
I think I have things sorted now with an extremely kind offer from a member of The Stalking Directory.
All I have to do is to go and pick the gun up (On loan for a day or two) and put it through it's paces before I make the final decision!
