stock coating

Hello everyone The Stock on my Browning A bolt is unbelievably sticky and leaves a terrible residue in my hands after handling it. I have heard of people removing the coating altogether but I’m a little reluctant as where to begin or what products to use. Any advice would be very much appreciated
