IMOA Browning 325 fixed choke the best handling gun. Would never part with mineFit is the first consideration along side how you mount/walk with it. In the hide my Browning 325 sits across my knees facing right as I am left handed, on the marsh the 425 (3") if behind the salting's lays on the slip, tucked in the same as the pigeon hide. On a peg I have it broken as there is enough time to see birds coming.
Both have the same dimensions in length of stock and cast also 30" but the 425 is 8oz heaver, my previous 325 was the same dimensions.
For me I found the right gun shape style 34 years ago sorted the length and cast working on the trusted formula
"if it isn't broke then don't fix it"
my mk38 with 32 barrels has 2 titanium flush chokes and balances bang on the pin (but that means squat!), quick enough for partridges and spooky pigeons though.I have a basic 525 which shoots wonderfully. Most on our shoot have Beretta but I like the weight of my browning. I keep looking for a mirouku mk 38 or 60 fixed choke grade 5.

Sounds like something wrong with fundamentals either fit or your techniqueI do like my Beretta, I’ve had it a while but I’m not sure why it kicks me in the cheek.
I’ve got to the point where I feel I have lost confidence as I feel it’s going to kick me, now affecting my shooting!
Otherwise I would be keeping it. It’s not a pleasant experience now

Find a Nikko Sterling or an old B25 - something with a bit of history - which fits you. Ignore the make, just go by fit and condition and buy if it speaks to you. Shop- mounting shotguns is a past-time all by itself. Like waggling flyrods in Tackle Shops. Pointless, but we all do it. Let us know what you buy.I am big Beretta fan , Silver Pigeon 5 and a DT11. A mate of mine has one of these Caesar Guerini for the money and the build quality they are hard to beat

Turning the gun over with the stock on the floor and seeing if it has the cast they claim in the gun shop is worth while..Find a Nikko Sterling or an old B25 - something with a bit of history - which fits you. Seen this a few times.Turning the gun over with the stock on the floor and seeing if it has the cast they claim in the gun shop is worth while..
Had the shop bod hand a gun to a mate (rh) he mounted it "not coming up very well" looked at it left cast lol
I found the Miroku 7000 or MK70 to be a great compromise between game and sporting - a bit barrel heavy for some, but I like it as it tames my wild swings enough for me to shoot more consistently but mostly I suspect that the stock dimensions fit me.I wouldn’t discount a Kofs or an Ata - they are a lot of gun for the money.
But there is so much variation in modern over and unders its very difficult to give advice. You need to decide what you want it to do and then choose accordingly.
All manufacturers have gone down the specialists route so that a game gun is very different from a sporting, which in turn is very different from a trap gun etc.
Game and sporting are probably the closest. But some sporters these days are very heavy.
I shoot clays with game guns - mostly side by sides. But I use clays as practice.
But a game gun won’t be as consistent as a sporter if scores matter. But a heavy sporter will struggle on a fast flushing woodcock.
I think you can get them with a silver inlay.I just disposed of a factory pair of 12b Rizzini RB's. They were achingly beautiful, a joy to shoot and I killed some pretty serious stuff with them! It still pains me to think that I offloaded them to be honest.
However, I made the decision to move over to 20b so picked up a lovely little EELL to get me into the swing of it. In the fullness of time I will likely go back down the Rizzini RB route, unless I am led astray by Caesar Guerini (if they took the hideous proliferation of gold inlay off the Revenant then I would be very very tempted)...
