2.8 Hilux reviews

Thinking of joining the (12month) waiting list for a new 2.8 Hilux Invincible and upgrading from my current 2.4 Hilux Icon. (67 plate).
Any reviews from current 2.8 Hilux users? (Good points as well as any bad ones!)

I'm on the list and hopefully only a few month left to wait, I really hope they sorted the parking sensor issue out as that was the main reason I got rid of my last one 3yr ago, also had an issue with one of the cylinders on the engine, Hopefully all good now
I also had an email of the dealer a month or so ago saying there maybe further delays due to the factory in SA flooding and all production had been stopped for at least 6 weeks

Have had my Invincible X since Feb. No problems to report so far, love the colour Titan Bronze. I have another on order for next March but the BASC discount had dropped from 19% to 14%. I understand it is now 10% which may disappear altogether as Toyota can sell all they can get their hands on.

I have one due in September under the old basc scheme. Was meant to be in may, and havent heard anything since. With the current economic climate im not even sure i want the thing anymore. Only thing keeping me interest in the 19% discount and the fact list prices have increased.

Had mine since March. Was a 12 month wait. I previously had a 2013 model

Couple of observations

Build quality as good. All shut lines etc aligned. Feels solid
Metal I suspect not as thick. Already have a dent in door from a very minor tap on someone’s mirror
Not sure the brakes are as good as last one. Seems to need a hard stamp to really bite in
Lot of electronic gizmos and computer functionality I frankly don’t use
Ride quality not as agricultural as last one
Front camera instead of parking sensors takes some getting used to
Seems to recharge the dpf a lot and at 4500 the adblue warning light has just come on. Not had one before so don’t know if normal
When reversing off-road I caught the mud flap between tree stump and tyre which pulled it off. I think they are overlong. So taken them off

I prefer the driving position in this on

Overall happy and would get another

Take the car and stick on the market immediately to make a small profit
