.270 reloading

How many nodes would you tend to find over a range of power?

I found I had two. I loaded from 54 grains up to 59 (never exceed was 60 with H4831, if memory serves). One was at 54, and the second was 58. I figured both would've done exactly what I wanted, but with 54 grains I got an extra 12 or so rounds per pound of powder.

Is there a ‘best’ powder for the .270?

Yes. H4831 :mad::lol:

I need to try the N160 at some stage, as in down to around 3/4lb of H4831[/QUOTE]

I think my mate uses reloaded19. What made you pick it over others? Availability or tried a few others and settled on this?

Cheers!
Good to see so much interest, in an ,until recently, unfashionable calibre!
I tried IMR 7828, the various 4831's, Rel 22 , Rel 19.and N160. They all produced excellent velocities and excellent accuracy and I would be hard pressed to say which was the best. However due to availability I stuck with the reloader series and as luck would have it, was a fortunate choice.
I use mine for hunting and have used 130 gr Nosler partitons, 140 gr Accubonds and mostly Hornady 130 gr interlocks. They are all good.
I worked up my Rel loads more than 20 years ago and have had no need to change.
Just use Rel 19 ,Rel 22 or N160 and you will be fine!!
