2nd rifle, what should it be?

ALREADY OWN A .243 TIKKA,BUT GAINED SOME LAND AND WITH LARGER QUARRY ON IT!

THERE ARE RED,FALLOW ,ROE AND A FEW WILD BOAR :lol:.

I AM KEEPING MY .243 BUT WANT A 2ND RIFLE,JUST WONDERING WHAT TO GET?

.270 or a .3006 its something bigger your after, your .308 .708 (pussy calibres)they are the same size of cartridges as your 243 so there's no much point in that.
 
270 will cover all the UK has to offer.

I have .243 for the smaller deer and .270 for anything larger / stronger.

Expect a lot of replies with weird and wonderful caliber and case combinationsbut to my mind why complicate it.

 
243 and 270 are a tried and tested partnership

ideally I would look for bullet weight overlap between calibres to take into account all needs

covers most in uk , but want to start shooting Boars , so more,, hoops to jump . to get 30,06 or some thing bigger ????
 
If you dont hand load then I would suggest 270, 6.5x55 or 308. If you hand load then you can go for the less common rounds such as 6.5-284, 284, 280
