3 Calibres

22 lr
6.5x47 or any 6.5mm cal
over and under 12 gauge shotgun

I can't think of a legal thing in this country I can't shoot with these 3 guns

Everyone should have at least one 22 lr
I agree although I don't know how future proof the old lr will be. Seen mainly as a rabbit basher but I don't come across many rabbits these days.
I'd start with something reloadable and small like a hornet and go from there!

Hi guys I have 22lr 1.7hmr 22 hornet 22-250 243 n 308

But if law allowed I recon hmr n 22-250 would be all I really needed …
Although I do fancy .204 and 222 … 6.5 maybe … can you have too many ..

But suppose the 3 would be hmr 22-250 .. .243 ( but only to stay legal ) 22-250……is deadly !!!! And privi 55 sp. £12 - 20 .. foxes beware !!!!

You might well have a point. Norma has some non-tox .22lr but it is supersonic and I don't know how good it is.

Pleasantly surprised to see so many 222 aficionados here, (not even counting the 223’s, which are basically the same, but inferior ;) ). Not bad for a cartridge that many have been decrying as obsolete for years now.
Gear lust would drive me to have a dozen calibres, but practicality, and licence restrictions drive me to just the two, my 222 and a 308 (unless you count a .22 pcp air rifle) which cover all my needs. Accurate and cheap to feed. As they say in photography, the best camera in the world is the one you have in your hand when the picture appears in front of you. Same goes for guns I think.

I just choose from these depending on the location and other factors

@Rusty Gate … I have never, ever met a goat that didn’t comprehensively die when encountering a 223 Remington, so I’d love to see the goats you’re thinking of that need a 280AI! Maybe ones that are very far away? Or American mountain goat?

I'd keep:

.17HMR. It's just so much more capable in my hands than the .22LR and if I really need silence for 35 yard rabbits I can use an air rifle.

.308 for all other UK quarry. Could be persuaded by a .270 as some are telling me they might have an edge with lead free bullets.

.375 H&H. Another do everything cartridge.
