Afternoon chaps, wondering if anyone loads 300 blackout subs, and if so what powder have you found to be most accurate and consistant generally, not looking for peoples load data as might not work in mine, just a powder to buy and start development, most of what i can see on the internet is US based and talk about 10” barrels, AR platforms ect, all of which of course wont be applicable to me over here
Il be using 190gn sub x bullets, norma brass, federal premium match primers and forster dies through a 16” barrel
Many thanks
Lee

I was given a tub of unique to load for this. The owner doesnt have a reloading set up and uses it on an indoor range.

Have you seen this? Vihtavuori N120 seems to work well.

I have also had good results with the same powder for heavy 7,62x39 subsonic loads.

I'd go for pistol powders in a bolt. It depends on what powders you have available locally. Talking about Vihtavuori, I'm somewhat sure even N310 is not too fast. I think you need to sacrifice quietness for terminal performance with Sub-X i.e. load it close to speed of sound.

Here's older thread, maybe you can try PM'ing the OP for more data. Hasn't been active for a year, but if he has email alerts for PM he might respond.

Wouldn't say so. The load with 10.6gr grouped great, but with the 10.0gr load velocity spread and grouping was all over. So it seems to be on the ragged edge of proper burn. N110 or some of the pistol powders might provide more margin of error, for e.g. cold weather.

Ok.
The most accurate sub- load on my bolt action x39 has been with a 200 gr bullet and N120. N32C comes fairly close, and that's what I use for lighter bullets.
N310 works all right, but does not group not quite as well. But 300 blk has a smaller case capacity, so it might make a difference.

I've been loading 12 gr of CFE Black with a 198gr bullet. Out of a 10.5" barrel I'm right at 1040fps. This was with NAMMO (Lapua military .223 brass) cases and a SR Magnum primer.

For a 16" barrel, 12.5gr is supposed to be the top of the subsonic load for 200gr bullets with CFE Black.

Obviously, CFE Black was specifically designed for the 300BO, and is a fine powder that meters well out of a measure.

Lil'Gun is another powder that works well, but I had an 8 lb keg of CFE Black, so it has become my go-to power for this round.

Thanks for the replies so far, i think i can get lil gun, was told it can “melt” the base of the bullet though and leave excessive copper fouling? No idea how this one can and others dont? Guessing its just an internet myth someone has heard and passed on
I can get a few of the vihts, recently bought some n350 for 357 so will see what they have
Thanks

I use hodgdons h110, it’s not on the reach list so still available in the uk, quiet and consistent with the 190 sub x, added bonus is that it does an accurate load with my 110g vmax as well in high velocity👍

I use Vhit 'Tin Star' for most subs in 300 Blk.

I've been shooting 330BLK for about 17 years. From a single shot break barrel AAC (H&R) to my current Ruger American in a Trybe chassis and AICS mags.

Both 16" barrels, for 100yds I can get about a 1.25" group using 155 - 190gr Nosler CC or Lapua Scenars using N120 and a standard SRP

For indoor subs (25yds) I used to use ShellHouse lead 165gr tapered flat point over 3.8gr of N310 and a standard SPP

Unfortunately the Ruger won't feed these so I switched to a 200gr hard cast RNFP (only hard cast as no standard alloy in that shape/weight) but these have doubled in price as now only sold lubed and gas checked which I don't need.

They now have some 170gr Boat Tailed with a polymer coating which I ordered back in January, will see what they shoot like when they arrive.

Both the 200gr hard cast and the 165gr produce one ragged hole at 25m.

Tapered Flat Point, 165gr .30-30 sized to .309 — ShellHouse Castings

Hard Cast RNFP, 200gr .30cal Hard Cast — ShellHouse Castings

Polymer Coated 170gr Boat Tailed, 175 Grn 30 CAL POLYMER COATED HEAD — ShellHouse Castings

I am about to start a project using the Hornady Sub X 190 grain bullets with Lovex D063 which I believe is very close to Accurate 1680. Using Quickload to avoid loss of eyebrows
