.308 Reloading Data help

​Hi,
Does anyone have any data for a .308 200gn bullet with Reloder 15 as a powder?

The one on the Alliant website is IMO quite hot (??) as i using the same powder charge in a 175gn bullet.

Anyone any ideas.

Both the bullets and powder i own so really dont want to buy more.

So who ya gonna trust? somebody on the internet who reloads? or the guys who make the powder, test it rigorously for pressure and velocity, and are legally and otherwise responsible for the data they provide?

Hmmm yes, i see what youre saying but ...

It says 42gn of powder which i use through 175 gn bullets and it kicks like a mule so 200gn bullet......

​also the data is for a speer sp which is a different bullet design would that cause problems?

The Alliant loads for the 308 always seem to be at the top end of what anyone else publishes. In fact in some cases their starting loads are around the level of other people's max loads. However, I've used their data for a while now with RL15, though with lighter bullets than you will be using, and had great success and no pressure signs.

I could easily make up some fantasy list of numbers and post them here so the truth is reloading data you find on random forums on the internet is pretty much worthless as you've no idea where it came from or if it is simply made up by some nut job and, as you must be aware, the internet isn't short of those. However almost all the powder and bullet manufacturers publish data on their official web sites so for your own safety and piece of mind that would be a good place to start.

The Lee manual recommends 37.0 as a start, with a maximum of 42.0 for 200 grn bullets.
For 180 grn bullets, the Nosler manual shows 38.5, with a maximum of 42.5.
