410 reloading

The most common 410 press is the MEC600 junior.
Personally I'd get a few basic tools and do it yourself.
The problem with 410 is that the cases swell up front and it can't be resized.
Of course that doesn't matter if one is buying new cases. Then again star crimping them is troublesome so go with a roll crimp.
I do them with basic hand tools for the few I do a year.

@Grannysmith OUCH ! Sound like a good story! I have a titanium cage and carbon fibre spacers in my neck but still manage 10 bore albeit black powder loads which I sourced from the late Alan Meyers in Garstang.
If you look on e bay you can get .410 loaders I think that they were made by Lee Reloading. If you get into it in a big way there is a MEC conversion kit which is suitable for .410 so the purchase of a MEC loader in 12 bore bought second had and the kit would be the cheapest way to go but for a few cartridges not cost effective and the saving per box will be quite small as @Smellydog has quite rightly stated the cases start to swell up .
Good luck with your endeavours and enjoy . Regards Rookandrabbit.

P.s I hope that this is okay to show I know that they are adverts but it’s a screen shot from eBay………don’t want to bend any rules?

P. s mentor wanted Lancashire Merseyside Cheshire North Wales areas for DSC2 experience 🙂🤞🤞…asking for a friend, honest!

Try this guy, makes various 3d printed conversion kits for the Lee Loadall. Can't see the .410 version listed but I'm sure he'll do you one if asked.

Hi all,
Dpes anyone here know for reloading presses/tools to load
410 shotgun please?

What are you trying to load for, clays or live quarry, what shot type lead, bismuth or tungsten based and in what quantity? As depending on your requirements it possibly may not be worth the setup costs and effort.

Am I right in thinking the bits of wood with a hole are your clamp for holding the case while you roll the top?

I would find out the cost of tooling and components and then their availability before thinking about loading around a 1000, high probability it’s not worth the effort of loading them vs any potential savings.
I looked at it briefly, and got pretty much set up. Lee loader in 12G, 3d printed adapters for 410, cheep rto, 410 brass resizer.
Total outlay about £120.

If you then factor in new cases (as mentioned above if fiber wad the plastic bulges so haven't found a way to reshape) ,about 19 pence a pop primed. Powder/wads/shot/overshot card.

That's before my time.

Even without tooling costs, I am not saving enough to reload compared with buying ready rolled.

That said, I will keep the kit to play with on rainy days as a hobby.. not as a money saver.
