.410g cartridge trimmer (homemade)

I was telling my brother I was in need of a jig to trim the end off of live 3” shotgun cartridges to remove the shot and powder so that I can use the primed case to make up some reduced loads, he came up with this including a shortened tube to trim the case to 2”, with the kind help of a member who made me some test loads I’ve settled on 9gms of shot and 9gns of pistol powder, this has reduced the felt recoil and is still good enough for dispatch

I reckon the Eley fourlong (2.5 inch shell) are already subsonic, they are massively quieter than anything else through my hushpower.

Still perfectly good enough for humane dispatch of sheep though

Agreed, but even with 2” factory loads the felt recoil from a pistol is quite harsh, also very loud especially inside a building, with the reduced loads both recoil and sound are much more “sociable”
