6.5 Creedmore

The 6.5 Creedmore is becoming increasingly famous in Spain, giving very good results. There in the UK do you use it? This cartridge has the virtue that, being intended for long distances, it is comfortable to shoot and dramatically effective in hunting, and it is also easy to reload. It's a cartridge that remains supersonic beyond 1200 meters, with an impressive average accuracy of around half MOA with reloaded ammunition. Some ballistics specialists define it as: "the cartridge whose projectile traces the trajectory of the 300 Win Mag, but which has less recoil than a .308 Win." That is why it is not surprising that it is the cartridge that takes the top positions in different long-distance shooting modalities. This client shot this ibex pretty far with the 6.5 Creedmore and dropped on the spot, and this animals are hard.

Never used creed for hunting but had taken plenty of deers with 6.5x55 and in my opinion (don't attempt to open a can of worms) it kills them better than 270

Its really all about the USA awakening into the 6.5 mm bullets. The 260 rem Can better it with shorter bullets and other 6.5mm can pack a greater punch and shoot very ,very well also- some a good bit faster if thats your thing? What Hornady did was allow a 308 class bullet to handle longer bullets in the 308 sized action and they gave it a twist to do that .
The most impressive task was in the marketing , though it remains an excellent choice . Personally i quite fancy adding a 6mm creed over the 6.5 . Ability to take long copper bullets with high BC and a slightly reduced recoil through the lighter yet long bullet and great BC . America finally accepted a metric system bullet fully and on mass

It’s as good accuracy wise as most other chamberings….nice and light to shoot and has a wide range of bullet weights available and there are rifles of most models chambered in it - reloading supplies are plentiful and info on it is readily available - what’s not to like!

I keep hearing people say how much better 6 BR is and then seeing creedmoors do better in comps….not sure why…just what I’ve seen.

People seem to want to dislike it which is odd in my opinion as it’s a bloody rifle cartridge! But when they get a shot they usually say “oh, it’s like shooting a 243”….and it is - it’s light recoil for the bullets it shoots.

Gixer

creedmoor ! MOOR !

joking aside it's a cracking little calibre and in my opinion about the perfect balance for all UK deer (as are all the other medium 6.5mm rounds 47/55/260)
In Uk do you hunt Red Stags normally? and if so, what are the weights' in Spain big ones aprox 250kg

the creedmore also waste less the barrel ive heard. In the north of europe 6,5 is the caliber they have always used to hunt moose. Important to say they normally dont shoot them above 40 meters so shot placement is normally perfect.

yes we do , you may get an odd lowland stag that may get up to 250kg but it would be rare , highland stags probably half that weight
Samller then than our stags. Also the wolve in Spain makes the animal even harder. They get accostumed to running all day and are heavy muscled.

very doubtful that a cartridge burning similar powders at the similar fill levels to another would have any tangible extra life! I used to know a guide in Lapland , they shot about the similar distances as us in the Uk Northern Europe though is a big space and a few nations . Your plainly talking with Elk hounds ? There is also a fair bit of driven and regular stalking , high seats etc .
