6.5PRC + hornady 130g cx

Wondering if anyone out there has tried the above, 6.5prc and the 130g cx? Picked a box up today and fancy trying to get them 3100fps+ to bowl things over at range.

It looks like they will have a maximum effective range of 500 so should work well at 300+
Any suggestions?

I've only tried factory ammo so far, the Hornady Outfitter, which uses that bullet
It's accurate, and works well on deer. Great expansion too judging by the wound channel. Puts deer on the ground & quickly.
I'll be interested to hear if you ever achieve (I suppose your doing your own loading?) that MV and how - what powder/charge weight etc

I don't suppose you know what the factory offering is doing velocity wise?

I intend on loading them in the coming week or so and testing next week. I'm thinking n165 and if that doesn't give me the velocity in after, maybe rl-26 although it's difficult to get hold of now.

Sorry fella, I don't, didn't get round to checking
I'm only using them as a stop gap until I sort my own homeloads
I'm going to try some Barnes LRX because I couldn't find the CX bullets in stock anywhere

If it helps, I have done load development on several 6.5 prc's. 130 thru 144 gr. All worked best with rl23. H1000 works for accuracy but a bit slower, cci 200 primers for h1000 is pretty critical tho.

Yes I’ve shot and loaded the 130cx in my PRC. I used, RL26 and it’s very good. The bullet behaves almost identically to the Barnes 127 lrx. Same powder load in my rifle. On game the same too as far as I could tell.

I’m considering working up a load with the 130 CX and the new Ramshot Grand. Not sure if y’all got that powder over there but it’s a ball powder in the H1000 burn range.
