6.5prc necked up to 7mm

The case capacity of the 7mm PRC is listed as 82gn water. I measured the 6.5PRC case capacity for both Hornady, and Lapua at 68.4gn.

Quite a difference, and the 300PRC is listed at 94.5gn. Necked down to 7mm ??? 😁
According to Hornady who developed the prc range barrel life is about 1000 rounds for 6.5 and 7mm prc I the the 7 prcw would be closer to 1500 or 2000 rounds or so. Not sure I could be bothered with a barrel that lasts 1000 rounds but in the prefit world of America it’s probably not such a big deal

Has the 7prc taken off reference sales etc from a trader POV
We have built a few already and have a couple in progress
I personally think the cartridge needs a 1:7" twist which is a tricky barrel to get in the UK

For anyone who wants to chuck bullets above 160gr without a belted case they are awesome
Makes the 7mmRM look anaemic

Once Lapua start shipping brass it will be good

Only watched a youtube the other day very easy and achievable with very little outlay.
primalrights on youtube.
Lookup ...
7 mm prc primal-forming cases.
Just got to find a drop in 7prc barrel for the RPR now šŸ¤”
Another guy just run a 7mm mandrel and I expect fire formed the shoulder.

What makes you think the cartridge needs a 7 twist?

197gr Sierras…

175gr and 180gr Copper

Sure you might get them to work in a 1:8ā€ but there is significant stability improvement with faster twist
I don’t disagree with your comment, more interested as to your personal experience and finding they would not stabilise. I’d be interested to hear about the ones you have built already.

195 Bergers stabilise well in a 1:8 7PRC barrel according to Berger.

Copper in 175 and 180 - is someone making them? I have been shooting some prototype 165 Vertus which are shooting exceedingly well.
