6.5prc necked up to 7mm

This is an interesting chambering I would like too. It seems like a modern cartridge design with 7mm bullet - hopefully a lot more accurate and efficient than my 7x64.
Agreed, I have a 6.5x47 Lapua and that is pretty
accurate, even with my loading skills.

Does anyone have experience with this chambering?
I am in the process of pulling the bits to put one together, I like the idea of a modern short magnum driving a 7mm projectile as they seem to work quite efficiently.

Look forward to hearing your opinions.
I’ve been using a 6.5-7 PRC, what do you want to know ?

6.5-7PRCW reamers seem to be becoming more common. Certainly they're being built in the UK now for F class shooters, and others interested in long range shooting are having them built. A replacement for 284w with better resistance to pressure=wee bit more velocity, and brass availability, driven by F class (I think?)

Long range target
Bat Machine, Brux barrel 1.8.5 T
Chambered by a friend who I won’t name.
180 or 184 Berger Hybrids
Powders that would work, or do work.
V555
VN160
VN165
RL 16 & 23
RS62
H4350, H4831sc
IMR 7828 and 7828ssc

Very accurate if you stick to sensible speeds, case capacity is the same as a 7mm Shehane and just slightly less than a R SAUM.
Brass is good and case life is reportedly very good, recoil is also non existent.

Thank you, that sounds quite the bit of kit. A friend of mine will be chambering the barrel for me, I already have it in stock and just need to get the reamer sorted and we can make a start.

PRCW, the W I believe stands for Wheeler, from Wheeler engineering. Again, I believe the only change made to the reamer is the lead angle.

If it is anything like the 6.5 PRC-W the web of the chamber area is also opened up to prevent “clickers” or the need for a small base die.

What advantages over 7 saum?
Availability of brass?

The case capacity of the 7mm PRC is listed as 82gn water. I measured the 6.5PRC case capacity for both Hornady, and Lapua at 68.4gn.

Quite a difference, and the 300PRC is listed at 94.5gn. Necked down to 7mm ??? 😁

I believe it's been done Stateside. When you do the maths, probably cheaper building a 33XC
