Not from what I heard from a FC ranger a couple of weeks back.

A 100 grain jacketed bullet will not be any longer than a lighter Barnes X . Penetration of a 80/85 grain Barnes X will be far superior to a traditional jacketed 100 gr bullet.
Brass or Copper is lighter than lead. Nothing to do about that.
I have just been offered a culling contract by a woodland agency for purely roe. One of the conditions is that I use only solid copper bullets. I'm struggling to work out how I comply currently. I would normally use a 6mm PPC or 6mm 284 for small woodlands (450 acres) like this. I was told they had been using copper bullets successfully in Scotland on reds, sika and roe for the last eighteen months. Looks like its going to be a thing of the future, largely based on environmental issues as to lead pollution I believe. FC are also trialing currently I'm told.I have 2 FC leases & the FC manager I deal with is not for it but it might still happen. The ranger I was with a few weeks ago said that is all that they are using now & have been for the past year or so.Lookes like I will have to try some in the 30-06 instead. My .243 with handle 100gr even though it is 1 -10 twist so lookes like I will have to stick to them insted.
