Hi looking for some advice for loading for 6mmbr norma I'm looking to shoot 108g Eldm,

What length should I get rifle throated for i was thinking 2.400 oal touching lands

Reamer will be .272 neck

What powder I have N150 and N140

Primers CCI BR4

Lapua brass

Thanks and information appreciated

I use N140 in my stalking rifle with a 103g ELD-X. Super accurate and more than does the job. :thumb:

The best powder? I’ve never had anything shoot as well as Varget, but try and find it now.

I know when it comes to load development every barrel is different,
What I am looking to know is oal and length to ogive for a 108g eldm, this is for cutting the throat length, if any of you shoot 6mmbr could you please measure,
Thanks

108 shoudlnt require a different throat to 105 amax/eld or for scenars. If on a magazine fed rifle (and the long heavy bullets can be a pain to feed in 6br) you need the magazine COL to fit.

Ihave taken my 6br off and will keep for future use, going to 6xc.

iirc 29.4 n140 was a good target load for 300m, in a 30” barrel, but for stalking with a 20-24” barrel youll want less.

Vihtavuori app has all the data you need to start, use 105 scenar as starting point.

I had a 6br a few years back, shot 105's very well with N140, better than Varget, freebore I think was.104, bto vaguely remember around 1.765 to the lands with 105 amax.

surely whoever is chambering it is the person to ask about the throat
if you want to run a specific bullet that may involve a different throat then you bring that up in the chambering discussion

However a no turn neck and a standard CIP throat will accommodate a 108 just fine

in this market I would chose a powder you can reliably replace
30gr of N140 behind the 105 AMax was perfect in my last one

RS50/53
N140 or similar will work just fine

I think you’re over thinking this. Seat your bullet of choice to the place where you want it in the case neck and give this to whoever is building your rifle. They can then throat out the chamber if their reamer is short on freebore for what you wish.

These are discussions you should be having with your rifle builder. Freebore lengths will vary depending upon land diameter and lead angle so the numbers someone else gives you will not match exactly.

6br isn’t a throat burner. I wouldn’t stress the freebore number. As long as the reamer is setup for 105/107 class bullets, you’ll be in the ball park.

As others have said - this should be a discussion with your rifle builder

But , most standard throater reamers will accommodate up to 110 class bullets to seat in the case without impinging on powder space

Things also to consider and I can’t stress this enough with the fiddly fecker the BR case is

Action choice (needs to feed and needs to eject the case without half letting go with a reverse case in the action)

Bolt / firing pin - BR is SRP the firing pin needs to be .062” to avoid issues with pressure, primer piercing etc

Magazine feed - will the action feed from magazine

👍🏻

My M591 feeds fine. The donor was a 22-250 Rem. Standard floorplate magazine. No firing pin issues either.

I’m pretty sure they tikka T3 perform well with 6mmbr.

My old R93 fed perfectly from the .243 mag under but wouldn’t feed in the 22-250 mag insert.

The 6mmbr has been my favourite round to date and by far the easiest to shoot well.
