I couldn't see the video so dunno wot he was doing but as mudman said could well be true.

Been a long time since i done my snareing ticket/training but i'm sure best practice was (might have changed since, but doubt it) to carry a fork when checking snares in badger areas just in case u had any bycatch , and use the fork to release the billy unharmed
 
Seems like a lot of false indignation or else a lot of very naive hunting men posting on this thread.

The dogs were doing what they were bred for and no evidence that any badgers were harmed, most digging men have more respect for badgers than the paid officials that are paid to cull them and the repsect and love they have for their terriers is second to none.

The chap got a prison sentence, lost his job and a hefty fine but that's clearly not enough punishment for the whiter than white amongst us.

There was plenty evidence. A quick search will establish that a number of photos and videos were of his dogs attacking badgers. From Daily Record

You stated there was “no evidence that any badgers were harmed” It was stated in court and accepted that the numerous photos and videos presented in evidence featured the accused’s own dogs attacking both badgers and foxes.
Were these badgers featured not harmed?

I'm not going to surmise if the badgers were harmed Bob, where is your "plenty evidence" that they were?

What is so difficult. Photos, videos and a guilty plea. Badgers were specifically mentioned on the Indictment. How much more evidence is needed before you consider it “plenty”

I've kept and worked terriers sometime ago now. It was handy to have a useful terrier to bolt a fox at times and kill rats, if I had to dig it was always as humanly and as quickly as could be done, with the fox dispatched straight away in the hole.
But with the macho modern world with all the phones and online videos available, people like this lad to get drawn into a very dark world which is frightening. Such a shameful act of cruelty and barbarism. The truth is there are hundreds more like him out there with no respect for their quarry or it seems their dogs!

Condem all you want, he wasn't charged with harming badgers, no evidence was presented that he caused harm to badgers and he didn't plead guilty to harming badgers.

Some people that have posted in this thread have done more harm to the hunting fraternity than that unfortunate chap.

The anti's don't need ye to spread false accusations, they are quite capable of doing that themselves, but carry on there if it makes ye feel ye somehow have a moral highground.

Tally ho chaps.
