A bit of a wierd one this

Frome reclaimation, Frome,Somerset had a lot of undamaged slate snooker table bases in there a few weeks ago! Worth a call. Hope you get it sorted.

I am looking for a 600x 1200mm 25 - 50mm thick piece of slate.

Why?

It is to make a memorial stone for my daughter that passed away five years ago. I have never found a stone mason that can do what I am looking for.

I have permission from my local council to do what I want. Building contorl have said they will check it for conformity. So legally every thing is in place.

I did have a piece coming from a retired snooker table but the guy destroyed it trying to get it out himself and it's now too short for requirement.

If any one knows where I might find a piece can you let me know?

Thanks Guys.

I have a pile of thick slate here at home mate, not quite the size your looking for but may be able to do something with it. Send me an email address and ill send you some pictures . if you can use any of it your welcome to collect.

Hi mate

I'm truely sorry for your loss. I'm still in the costa's at the mo but when I get back I'll speak to Riche a mate of mine who runs a stone masons and see what he can help with.

Sorry I can't help Jim but but wish you all the best with your quest, must be tearing you apart bud.

Thanks for that. The wife will get a little sad on Tuesday. But the lad always lifts her mood. We treat it like any other child's birthday. A bit weird but we do the cake and all.

You should be able to pick up a used pool table from ebay or put the feelers out at pubs/snooker halls.

Pool table

or this

Thanks for the Link.

I have put that top on watch.
once i have made some calls tomorrow. I can see if it is a option after that. I will let you all know what my endeavors end with tomorrow.

If any one feels like it. Have a cuppa tea for her on Tuesday. Her name was/is May.

I know of a snooker table slate top sitting idle up here. Sure the guy would sell it if you were interested. Let me know if you want his number. Best of luck.

Budget well it's tighter than a ducks butt TBH. but thank you.

I think I have the slate sorted now. Some very Kind SD members have offerd some. Sorry if I have not got back to you yet I mean no disrespect.

The marble letters will come out off off cuts the water jet cutter has left over. It has a amazing pink to it, the wife dos'nt now that, I told her it was wight. she will be thrilled.

The jet cutting is at mates rates. So now I have to make the forms up for the sub frame/ foundations. And find some edging strips for round the out side. I might form up those too and cast in concrete and polish it.

So budget? Blood, sweat and a coulpe of tears I think.

It's May's birthday today.

Nothing "weird" about that whatsoever. I hate to think how I would react.

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room.

I am I, and you are you;
Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used,

Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity nor sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the jokes we shared.

Let my name ever be the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you, for an interval.
Somewhere, very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well
