advise wanted on a scope please

im want to buy new/secondhand scope for my .222 for foxing and lamping, ive been offerd mtc mamba 3x12x44, leupold vx-1 3x9x40, both for similar money, would they be suitible for lamping and shots at 250yards at night?

I would look for something in a 56mm objective if possible. and german glass if you can.
250 under a lamp is a loooong way too.

i've got that mamba on my hornet and its fine out to way past hornet ranges, shooting clarity to 300yd. A mates got one on his .270 too. Theyre not brilliant on top mag and can be a bit funny about head position. I get on really well with mine though.

around the £120, im not wanting to spend much more, it would be nice to spend more but family 1st lol

I have used these two scopes and think there good value for money 8x56 is ideal for stalking and foxing, S&B 8x56 is all I use now.......
