Alpex 4k Charging issues

Just trying to help a mate out that has purchased a Alpex 4k LRF and he’s having trouble charging it. I’ve now got it and have fully charged the external 18650 battery as well has having the unit connected to USB charge cable for over 6 hour yet it still shows battery low when turned on. This unit has only been taken out of the box from now on the last few days and hasn’t even been used. Are we doing something wrong or is it faulty maybe ?
With the external battery fitted it shows an I in the battery icon but just won’t go above 1 bar

think this happened to me, first time charge was 10 hours i think, even when iv been out with mine on the internal battery it still takes 4-5 hours to charge,
are you charging off the mains? and its charged when the red light goes green near where the charge point is on the scope 👍

It was on for 14 hours he said but not sure if external battery was in. I’ve taken it out now and put it back on charge. How does it switch between the two though. As I’m getting battery low warning but it didn’t switch the E icon

Remove external battery to charge , it does take a long time but battery indicator will switch from red to green when charged.

I have never ran the internal battery out but I believe it will automatically switch to the external battery

Both mine charge fine with the external battery in, I bought one at the gamefair, came home, put in an external battery and put it on charge with no issues.

I now have a green light and that’s with battery out so no idea what was wrong. I will use it and try next time with it in.

Only charge with the lead it came with.

I tried charging it with the lead from my sons VR headset and it did nothing.

As above, charge without the external battery in it.

Have had no issues whatsoever charging mine with a different lead, with or without the external battery in (although if I remember it’s in I’ll take it out & charge it separately).

What I have found makes a difference is the charger itself, they aren’t all the same & I now only use one with a high output, pretty sure it’s an older Apple one that came with an iPad years ago. The small plug like ones for charging your mobile have a pretty low output.

Edit: just checked & it’s an Apple charger with a pretty thick Belkin USB C lead
