Antler Shed Hunting

The antlers do belong to the landowner though, so even if you have a right to walk on the land in Scotland, you don't have a right to pick stuff up and carry it away.
Always best to ask. It's unlikely that anyone would say no.
I've been told or well heard different, there's a very prevalent person up north that Is known for antler finds whilst most of her finds are on private property she has permission on she's got half a dozen spots where the ground Is private and managed, but has public access, I think as far as I'm aware unless the ground stalker and or estate owner has personally found the cast (what I admit, is difficult to verify) Its free-game law wise Its classed I believe its still classed as "wild deer" even though Its no longer attached to the head of the deer obviously.

I know at one point there was an interaction with a keeper, and her and the police - It was verified everything she did was legal and within the law.
Not that I would take my statement as absolute proof and go run around onto private looking for antlers, but there's a reasonble chance It actually is legal.

But, Honestly its not hard to gain permission for that sort of thing especially more on the farm basis rather than the person that owns shooting rights, Farmers hate them after all ruin many many tractor tires over the years I bet.

And since reds group up or well, at least live a bit more like american elk finding antlers in the right spot isn't the hardest thing with a bit of thought and a drive around at night at casting season with a thermal.
