Any Action With the Stags Yet

Good news, shouldn't be too long hopefully before it gets underway proper

I think you've missed the boat with Roe, not that I asked about them....

Good man Arron.
My neighbour has been hearing roaring in the forestry in D&G since last week, I expected it to be late (like most things this year) but this is a week + early, he did say it might have been a single beast though.

I was stalking at Invermark in the Angus glens on Friday and we heard the odd roar. We saw lots of stags in big herds of stags too so I would think the rut will not be far away now as especially as I had to scrape the ice off the car this morning in Aberdeen

Sika are rutting now in Ross- shire, whistling like mad. Reds can't be far away, fresh snow this afternoon on the top of calf corrie, Wyvis estate.

I shot a stag on Friday morning that was chasing hinds about with a high degree of interest. He was well coloured up on his stomach too.

That's good news Wallace. I'm stalking nearby in a weeks time, should be bang on. Have to try and call in on Wayne (Deadly) at Wyvis while there. Gaz

Was out today in Perthshire on the hill. Plenty of stags but no roaring quite yet. Hot summer and temps (until this week) likely to have pushed on hinds coming into season by a week or even 2. That said, its imminent!

The Sika are starting to get active here, hearing a few whistling now. Called two in, it's certainly not in full swing yet. Their bellies are full and the fat is still brilliant white in colour.
