hi guys , not stalking related but , ,,,, i am now on my THIRD week of being laid up with what the docs THINK is shingles, . man ive never had pain like it,
i cant wear anything on my torso its that sensitive , even a breeze touching me is enough to send waves of pins and needles over me

sweats , fatigue, and just a general feeling of being ill. oh yeah ive lost 15lbs in just over 2 weeks , probably more but i cant be arsed getting out of bed to check

heres why i am posting , i have all the symptoms of shingles but no rash , and no rash means the doc wont give me the drugs for shingles has anybody had this ? if so when did you start to feel well again , as it starting to grind me down

Had shingles but it sounds like I didn't get it as bad as you. I did get a rash but didn't get to the docs in time to have the anti biotics. Just painkillers which tbh were worse than the pain as they really wiped me out (cocodamol).
if memory serves it took 2-3 weeks before getting better. Mine really was just an ache down my side like a strained muscle tho.
all the best with it,
mike

similar, but all I got for it was a paint on ointment that you could taste within seconds of applying! painkillers were just good old paracetemol :( the worse of the rash was over and done with in about 2 weeks, the pain after 2-3 months (although it still comes back in cold weather and this is 1979 we're talking about!! ) horrible illness and until you've had it you never realise how bad it is, feel for you mate.

get yourself to another doctor is my advice,!!!!! a friend of mine had symptoms just as you describe, his doctor treated him for it for weeks to no avail in the end it turned out to be lymes he is now a shadow of his former self muscle pains weakness and just generally a mess that was all over 10 years ago and he hasn't got any better it's ruined his life

Brian is not looking, your going to Die .

Maybe not of this but it's going to happen .

Yep and had it for months. Hand sized patch on lower back that looked and felt like the cold sore from hell. Unbelievably sensitive and painful. Even after it healed up the area remained tingly and sensitive. Can cause nerve damage apparently.
Hope it clears quick mate as it really is not much fun. Important doc checks it out and you get tablets for it.

Hi Brian,
I had shingles and it took me about 3 months to get over it. I had the rash going round my torso. Seems the rash can go up over your head and down onto your face. Apparently it follows some nerve which we have.
I was given Zovirax which it seems costs an absolute fortune for the course. I had a rant in the surgery as I was told they were reluctant to prescribe it due to cost issues and I had just been dealing with a junkie who was given a large tub of it to treat his abscesses on his track marks! I think the Doc just wanted rid of me.

Sounds like you really need to know, so find a Kinesiologist. Sounds wierd and is it a bit, but you will find out very quickly if you have shingles, lymes or whatever. I went to one for an undiagnosed (though not for want of trying) complaint a few years ago and found out it was a virus, and even which one. I ended up telling my GP what it was, which didn't go down too well! They don't understand it, poor things. It'll cost a little money, but if you're in pain... this is an option that that will help, even if doc won't.

My mum had it for a few months with no rash etc and the Doctors missed it and it ended up permanently damaging her eye so she now has reduced vision in her left one, my advice would be go to another Doc and see what they can do!

I have had it a few years back and its really awful , however I haven't heard of anyone losing that amount of weight in such a short time with shingles......think you really need to pressure your doctor on this and get a second opinion.........quickly !
Hope you get better soon

I had a bad case of shingles when I was about 14. I had it all over my head under my eye lids up my nose. I couldnt even put my head on a pillow.nasty nasty stuff.

I had the Shingles (sometimes called herpes zoster) about 2yrs ago on the crown of my
head very painful,a visit to the doc's and some painkillers should sort you.
Incedentally anyone who has had chickenpox in the past may develop shingles.

Rgds, Buck.

PS. you cannot catch the shingles from someone who has them, but you may
catch chickenpox, so try and avoid contact with small children & elderly...!

I've not suffered shingles but am well aware of how debilitating and painful it can be. Vaccination against it is available from your GP and if you are in your antiquity like myself, it is given automatically, just like the flue and pneumonia jab - at least it is here in Scotland.
