I think that bigger piece of plastic is the 'extreme' bit - as it is something like 48% the diameter of the bullet..'theoretically'...to enable better expansion and initial shock.Nice but what's with the "extreme"? Its like when manufacturers use the word "ultra" in the name or description of a product.
What's the next product going to be called, the extremely extreme ultra super slug lol.
Anyway, nice to see a bigger piece of single use plastic being dumped into the environment than we normally get lol.
Yep, it'll be extremely good at getting into birds gizzardsI think that bigger piece of plastic is the 'extreme' bit - as it is something like 48% the diameter of the bullet..'theoretically'...to enable better expansion and initial shock.
And that will cause,.........Yep, it'll be extremely good at getting into birds gizzards![]()
And when you say drop, do they seem like they've got plenty of shocking power? I can only guess that in .270 they must be expanding pretty well.Don’t know what they are like in 243 but in a 270 they are effective. Not the most accurate round, inch group. Drops deer ( Sika, Red and Roe) with no problem. Downside is you get a hole the same size as lead bullets make
Plastic is finding its way into seabird chicks stomachs and it stays there eventually killing the bird through starvation. And that will cause,.........![]()

That sounds promising!Expand very well in the 270, haven’t seen other non lead bullets expand as much.
Sorry Steve, put that to me in layman's termsKeith, reckon you should get DRT results.
And I thought he meant something like 'down range tested'..........Not sure I am any the wiserFriend has used them in .308 and they worked well.
Steve’s DRT is dead right there.
Downside is you get a hole the same size as lead bullets make

It’s the TAC-TXI appreciate the sentiment regarding stray plastic but in reality the chances of tips from spent bullets causing harm to birds must be negligible to say the least.
Hopefully Winchesters bullet with it’s larger cavity will allow a wider band of effective impact velocity - if so I’m surprised Barnes hasn’t added such a bullet to their line - if only to allow it to be called ‘TTSSXXX-Ultra-Mega’ or whatever![]()

I think that wanting a lethal round that drops a deer on the spot yet results in absolute minimal meat damage is a bit like wanting a wide, lofty twin-cab pick-up that does 80 mpg. It's a nice thought but very difficult to turn into a reality.Surely that's what you'd want?
