Attracting Ducks to a new flight pond....

Is that some sort of innuendo 🤔🤣

No, I’ve mentioned it before, the beast field next to the farm would be ideal, the way the land lies I could run all the surface water into it ( no run off from the fields) and have the outlet into the tip drive, which is where it naturally goes, but sadly not ☹️
You know me mate - I don't fanny about with inuendo, I just let the filth fall out my gob!!

Quick update on my original post as I see it's gone astray somewhat! 🦆

Huge amount of flattened Barley and a very late harvest locally has left an abundance of food in the stubbles.
A few late afternoons at the Pigeons and Crows would see Ducks coming in, so little wonder they weren't venturing further afield for grub 🌾

First signs of feathers took well over a month, but there's now a good head of Teal and Mallard visiting daily.

Automatic feeder has been set for a few short intervals during the day to keep off day time roosting, which is often an issue on undisturbed ponds.

Flight ponds are a really wonderful thing. Personally I like to set a bag limit (so its not overshot) and try not to shoot it too often (so that they keep coming back and bring their friends with them). If you have the luxury of time, then pick the right evening with a fair bit of breeze, not a calendar date, and the sport will be amazing.
