Auto lift improvement

I use an auto lift a lot for Fallow for a suspended graloch on the back of my car and to aid loading. I also use it for collaborative culls. The ring on the end prevents carcass transfer and twists the beast to the side when working at the back of the car. I swapped the ring for a hook a year ago. Must have done 50 plus Fallow with it, loads better.

Do use a bar to keep the tail gate open, or do you use an attachment on the draw bar

I use a tapered timber prop, small s hook at the top to give maximum lift and slot at the bottom to go over the door door keeper. Freelander 2 is the car.

Is that better than threading the gambrel through the strap ?
Not figured how to use it with a suzuki grand vitara side opening door.
Usually use a limb of a tree.

No issue threading through the strap if you are just doing one. When you have multiples to do and want to transfer the gambrel and beast to another s hook my modification helps.

Handy bit of kit, but agree that big hoop is a bit useless and takes 3 inches of drop. Just have a big carabiner on mine.
