Barnes TSX/TTSX/LRX reloading, 30-06.

LOL. The casual mis-use of the term "head" on SD usually brings the nomenclature police out in force, usually in a hilariously sarcastic set of retorts. Wait for Woodsmoke... :p Spoiler alert: View attachment 167390

The Barnes .30 cal ttsx projectiles can be bought quite widely in the UK. Assuming your local RFD does not stock them, there are multiple mail order options. ReloadingSolutions or CDSG would be exaples of mail order options I have used.
Haha, yes like saying as a young soldier - bullets... “THEY ARE NOT BULLETS, THEY ARE ROUNDS”..

I have seen a few but couldn’t find 180gr in .30 cal, will have a hunt around for them as that would be ideal!

Just a side note , most people I know that use Barnes TSX /TTSX's in their 30/06's tend to favour 165 gr bullets . Keep in mind , that's for Moose , Elk and Bear . All of them were happy with penetration and experienced quick kills . These are considerably heavier animals than game most on here would encounter . If I were hunting in the UK , I'd go with something lighter .

I used 125gn GMX with Big Game powder can't remember the load but it did 3350 fps out of my factory 700.
Certainly a tough bullet and would NOT recommend it past 250-300.

I’ve literally just walked through the door having shot my first roe buck using the 165grn Barnes ttsx. It was a neck shot at 40m but shows good expansion. There were no petals or shards in the wound channel.
My normal stalking load is 140grn sst in 6.5x55 and I’d say that on the neck shot roe the Barnes Did less damage. The sst always seems to leave a lot of bullet jacket debris on a neck shot. I imagine from the rapid expansion initiated by bone.
Not a very good test, was hoping to get a chest shot but heavy cover and an alert old boy forced my hand!

I shoot Peregine 150gr VLR-4 in my 21” 30-06 at 2910fps - using Norma 203B (although VV N540 would work jus5 as well). This bullet has proved deadly from 20m to 350m on both large (Blue Wildebeest/ Zebra) and small (Springbok) game. The Barnes should be just fine but I wouldn’t go heavier than 150gr.
