Going to be looking to buy a moderator and looking for guidance. It will be for a Tikka TX3 or Mauser M25 ( Creedmoor) depending what I buy. I am looking for middle range as buying rife and price builds up quickly. Thanks in advance.

You won’t go wrong with ASE UTRA. You’ll easily find the right thread for your barrels. They last forever and are well made. They aren’t the lightest, so will add weight to the end of the barrel, but personally I don’t mind that as they are effective and reliable. Just my opinion and personal preference.

Depends on use of rifle and mod set up.

I use an atec H2 on all my rifles (same one) and I’m out stalking once a week.

It’s very lightweight and a joy to use, it is aluminium based hence the weight but I can’t see much wear to it and I’ve had it three or four years.

If I have to replace it, I will do so with the same. I’ve had other stainless mods and the weight just doesn’t appeal to me.

For ultra light weight id go freyer and devik. Thought it was a fantastic moderator.

On my 6.5 creedmoor I have an ase utra sl5i and wouldn't change it. Small, quiet and has a little bit of heft which cuts the muzzle flip to near enough zero. Also dont need to worry about it as its robust

Modularity is important (IMHO) as is the availability of additional extra/replacement baffles, spare O rings etc. etc.
The ability and efficiency of the baffle stack to cool and allow the gasses to expand prior to hitting the atmosphere is the prime function so good design and volume will increase it's 'performance'.
It's a trade off.

DPT fit all of my criteria and I can get a bore that is close to the diameter of the projectile, which also helps noise suppression.

Generally the main compromise is heavy/quiet/long lasting or the opposite. There is currently a race for lighter and lighter moderators. Personally I am not convinced. As above a heavy ASE ultra jetz will last a lifetime if you dry it out after use and works well on a short barrelled rifle.

I have used ase, dpt and f&d. The lightest and quietest is the f&d. Loudest is the dpt even with extra baffles. I never ever clean mods, just use till you need to replace them.

Ed at Edinburgh Rifles has a nice thread on this in the archives. My T8 is quieter then the DPT but the latter is smaller and lighter so is more used. 308 and 6.5 x 55

This post is the perfect example of horses for courses, as type of use changes, then the specification needs to match, as such the perfect moderator simply doesn't exist.
All the mods listed will do a job, however, perhaps not the job you want them to do.
For range or hill and fit and forget (but dont leave on) then maybe one of ours or an ASE, for hill and lighter use, then any of the lighter strippable units.
