Looking at buying a new 500cc quad in the next 4-5 weeks..

Got my eye on the Honda trx 500 FA6 & also the Suzuki AXI 500 king quad both 2019 edition.

Which is the better model as new to these sorts things.

Id personally say Honda make one of the best ATV's they seem to last the test of time. Don't know quite how much time your going to spend on it and use, but id go for a manual one for simplicity less to go wrong, the only problem I had with my last one was with electric shift. Gone for a UTV now but to be fare may swap back to a quad as its easier to move around.

Yes I’m liking the Honda personally too just wanted to hear other people’s thoughts on the matter

This is like asking what rifle should I buy in .243 you'll get fans of different makes, different models, try and find a demo day for them.

Only got two makes & models above! Not Interested is any other make.. On a reliability & performance standpoint I wanted to know which Is the best / what people are using

Heard really good things about the King Quads from a few guys up here but to be fair, if it was me i would keep my options open and just get the best deal that i can on either and be happy with that.

Might be a bit easier to get green king quads than Hondas though?

What do you think of the FM6
I normally use a 2013 fm model, with a mono shock. This is probably the worst bike i have used. I am using an fa pre 2013 at the moment and it is far better, more stable, more comfort, safer and goes through ground where the fm gets stuck. The one thing you need to figure out is repair costs and reliablity of each for yourself.

What’s the common things to go wrong with the quads?

Orion I put the post because others had already offered other makes maybe I should of used brand and not .243.

Typically the judgement of the bit between the seat and the handlebars
Yup. There's nothing more fun than crawling out from underneath an upturned quad, after dark, on a lonely and snowy Scottish hillside, petrol dripping onto your leg, as you consider whether perhaps you should have waited until the morning to recover that pair of hinds you shot at last light...

I do like these posts.

He specifically asks about 2 brands, clearly looked about and considered others. Sensible chap. But people still come on and recommend something that’s not been asked.

Same with calibers.
Question- What .308 should I get?
Answer- Get a 6.5 Creedmore, more versatile.

Anyway, I have a Honda TRX 420, selectable 4WD, no problems at all, as had been said, Honda is probably the biggest Farm Quad supplier.
My Mate has a (well was) new 500 with power steering and independent rear suspension, it goes anywhere! We often are two up plus a couple of reds and this thing just keeps going. I’d get the manual though, not the auto.

Good Luck, oh, and have you looked at .270’s :lol::lol:

I found the 500 too heavy for my liking, plumped for the 420 manual with power steering, fitted a winch and never looked back. Great for out on the Moor/bog.
