Best Stalking/Rough Shoot Boots

Dedito Moreland: Comfy, rugged and durable (far better than my Harkila was in every aspect)

Brandecosse.Lovely quality boots. And excellent customer service
Granted they may not be the cheapest but they are much better made than others I have had.
Another vote for Brandecosse. Very comfortable and hard wearing. Mine are worn almost daily and they are now four years old!

I've seen a couple of reviews that they are quite stiff out the box - did you find this?

I think i have narrowed the search down to:
  1. Dovre Extremes - reliable and safe option
  2. Brandecosse - good looking and high quality
  3. ALt Berg - Tried and tested, good value.
  4. Dedito - wildcard... some mixed reviews

Meindl kansas gtx, had for 7 yrs and have worn them every single day of the year twice in that period. Lining is now split and the rubber at the front is lifting, still waterproof and easily the most comfortable boots Ive owned.

Altberg defender are ok, AKUs are far superior for general wear and in summer.

Altberg sneekas are like slippers and will do in all but the deepest sucking mud. And resoleable.
Currently breaking in karrimor sf high liability. Very creaky but are comfortable.

Lowa are really very good and you can still get black ones cheap as the Army uses brown. If I was on the hill Id be in my Scarpas.

Wouldnt touch Haix, seen them fall apart when you dont want them to. Having acquired my first salomans I will be trying out their boots next.

I found them great straight out of the box to be honest.

Meindl Dovre Extreme - had mine for many years, still waterproof, still got a few years left in them and very comfortable boots. Used extensively in wet, boggy ground and for scrambling up rock faces. High enough boot to ford small streams and stay dry. Add a pair of long Sealskinz socks if you really want to stand in water up to your knees and stay dry. Excellent boots and will replace with the same when they give up.

Meindl Dovre Extreme.

last came from hill and dale.

Meindl Dovre Extremes are not the boots that they used to be. The quality of my last pair is poor despite careful waxing.
Regards
JCS
Several people on here have reported the same decline in quality recently. Seems to be just the name that's selling them now, rather than the quality.

Thanks, for the comment.

Seems to be mixed reviews from everyone on each of the boots that were suggested, no boot received glowing reviews from all!

Crispi or danner pronghorns , as for quite boots ? That’s usually down to the stalker, never had a pair of boots that remained water proof, especially in very wet conditions, and constant use.

Being honest boots are a personal thing. And all depends what they fit like.I tend to go more towards companies that have good customer service. As I had a pair of Le Cham fail and they didn’t really want to know.

Don't tell anyone but the best boots I have found are Meindl's and I wear mine every day up to 12hrs on the farm, but I buy mine off Ebay lightly used but 2nd hand and they are usually the older better made ones. Best of all half price, just remember as I have found they are tight for size !!

Haix cold / wet weather is what they're called. They're milsurps, but often brand new still in original box. About £60. They were made under contract for the British army, I believe.
Have also tried the Haix high liability, but the fit wasn't so good, and not such nice boots, so sent them back.
I drew a blank on finding some new (or vgc) haix boots but after a bit of research came up with the Iturri Cold Wet weather boots, which apparently replaced the Haix ones in service.
Plenty of new ones available so I ordered a pair in my size. Fairly inexpensive too.
They arrived yesterday and are seemingly very good…….best put some miles in wearing them now 👍🏼

I buy cheap boots, currently using some textile waterproof fishing type- uber comfy and kept my feet dry the last few weeks. I dont like the feeling of old boots so suits me to get a new pair every quarter 👍

Meind, they pretty well only make boots and shoes, I have 3 pairs and they have been excellent, comfortable straight out of the box

I am in the position that I don’t have to buy boots and as such have little loyalty to any brand.

I personally think the quality of Alt-Berg has gone down since I wore them all the time and believe that a lot of them aren’t made in the U.K. anymore (thinking Italy).

I tend to go for Scarpa, Salomon and Crispi now along with a good set of gaiters. Looking at the climbing reviews before hunting reviews is a good idea; same goes for climbing or mountaineering clothing in subdued colours - they spend a lot more in brand development and innovation than the likes of Harkila ever will.
