Bill to ban 'trophy' imports this Friday, 14th January, please write to your PM today

Regardless of whether you hunt or plan to hunt in Africa, or if you just watch documentaries, the threat of this legislation is to wildlife management and to rural people across much of the continent. The arguments for it have been at best inaccurate and at worst utterly dishonest. It is being promoted by celebs and luvvies, and opposed by conservationists especially those who live and work in Africa.

I will first be writing to him to tell him that I shall not be voting Conservative again if BJ isn't kicked into touch.

I wrote to my mp who is one Jacob Rees Mogg about this and urged him to vote against it. He replied that he would be voting with the government which I found strange as he is a hunting man.

I do not find it strange at all that those chasing foxes on horseback do not share any solidarity with the shooting, stalking or fishing fraternity.

People who hunt often don’t care for people who shoot
And many people who shoot dont care about those who shoot abroad. I wrote to my MP (Liz Truss) when all this crap first started and didnt even get a reply. IF the antis win this one they will go for shooting in the UK next you just know they will and anybody who thinks otherwise needs to have a little think.

You mean when?

Unfortunately they have someone in a very influential position, same reason the issuing of cull licences has been stopped and culls cut short

Whether you hunt in Africa or not I would respectfully urge you to please write to your MP today or tomorrow with something along these lines from Dr Hugh Webster:

The Spellar Bill – bad for wildlife, bad for people

It is the most ill thought out piece of legislation, totally ignoring the science.
Who else could we send our thoughts too, on this ill advised bill. Done letter to our PM. I also do not see the need to register any trophies l already owned as we have licences and shipping/freight notices to say when the animal was harvested, as do the professional hunter who has to record and register each animal that has been harvested in his country. I believe this is just another way of targeting and identifying the hunting fraternity, leaving us open to being potential targets for those who do not agree with our activities. As long as we are hunting legally and ethically why should we be known to everyone else. Personally I do not advertise what I do except to immediate family and other hunters out of respect for those who are are against this activity and find it distasteful and are uneducated. It is each to their own and I for one would not tell them what to do in their free time or on vacation. I am sure they bring lots of souvenirs from abroad which usually ends up in landfill as cheap plastic objects or unwanted trinkets etc which is harmful to our environment. Sorry on a rant. Will stop here.
